Fibre
Our organic cotton is grown in India, Turkey and Kyrgyzstan. The cotton is certified by Organic Cotton Standard which ensures that it has been grown solely on organic farms that take care of the soil, ecosystem and people by relying on biodiversity and local natural cycles.
Our hemp fibres come from China. Hemp has similar properties to linen; it is very strong and softens through washing. It is natural, breathable, absorbs moisture and dye easily, has anti-bacterial properties and is an effective insulator keeping you cool in summer and warm in winter. Hemp is a fast and efficiently growing fibre that requires almost no fertilisers and pesticides and very little water. Often called ‘super fibre’, hemp is great for the environment and extremely durable.
Fabric
Our indigo dyed hemp and organic cotton fabric is an alternative to denim. It is wonderfully soft and more environmentally friendly than conventional denim. The hemp gives the fabric its nice drape and the cotton its softness. The fabric is woven using indigo-dyed yarn and then carefully garment-washed to achieve different levels of colour. After woven into fabric, cut and sewn, the garments are washed to give the fabric a softer handle as well as a more casual appearance. The fabric will continue to soften each time you wash it.
Factory
The yarn, fabric and garments are all made by our supplier based in Rushan, to the north of Shanghai. The garment factory is powered by solar panels and focuses on producing environmentally-friendly clothing using hemp. We are proud to have worked with this supplier and their team for more than ten years.
