Fibre
Our cotton is grown in India.
Our kapok fibres are grown in Indonesia. Kapok fibres are natural, silky fibres derived from the seed pods of the kapok tree. Kapok floss is hydrophobic and lighter than cotton. A feature of kapok fabric is the presence of small kapok seeds, seen as brown flecks in the material. Harvested from fast-growing, low-input trees without the use of fertilizers or pesticides, kapok fibres are environmentally friendly.
The flax used to make our linen is grown in France, where the flax plant needs minimal water, energy, pesticides, and fertilisers to grow, making it one of the most naturally sustainable fibres.
Fabric
The combination of cotton, kapok, and linen creates a lightweight and soft fabric. Kapok fibers add unusual fineness, and linen adds subtle texture to the fabric. The yarn is dyed before weaving so we can combine different colours of yarn in the warp and weft to create beautiful melange colours in the finished fabric. The final step is to wash the garments to soften the fabric.
Factory
This style is made by our Chinese supplier, who specialises in producing fabric and clothing using kapok fibres. Their expertise in working with natural materials ensures both comfort and sustainability in every piece.
